Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Qatar H H Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan Al Saud visited Dar Al Sharq Group on Wednesday, where he met with Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dar Al Sharq, Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Thani Al Thani. The meeting was attended by CEO of Dar Al Sharq, Abdul Latif Abdullah Al Mahmoud; Deputy CEO of Dar Al Sharq, Jaber Al Harami; Editor-in-Chief of The Peninsula, Dr. Khalid Mubarak Al Shafi; Editor-in-Chief of Al Sharq, Sadiq Mohammed Al Amari; Editor-in-Chief of Lusail, Mohamed Hajji; Editor-in-Chief of Al Arab, Abdullah Talib Al Marri, and Director of the Ambassador’s office Saud bin Yassin Al Barakati.

 

Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Thani Al Thani welcomed the Ambassador, wishing him success in his diplomatic mission, expressing his happiness on the deep ties that bind the two brotherly countries. He expressed the readiness of the media group of Dar Al Sharq (The Peninsula, Al Sharq, Al Arab and Lusail) and its digital platforms, which are followed by over 120,000 people daily to take relations to the level aspired by the peoples and the governments of the two countries.Sheikh Dr. Khalid stressed on keenness of Dar Al Sharq Group to nationalise the profession of journalism by training media graduates and talented people in the field of journalism in the training centre of Al Sharq newspaper which has previously graduated competencies working to perform its media mission in many entities of the country. In addition, Dar Al Sharq Group prints and distributes many Arab and foreign newspapers thanks to its highly sophisticated printing capabilities that are comparable to their counterparts in Arab and foreign countries, with the capacity to print 50,000 copies per hour. The subsidiaries of Dar Al Sharq Group enhance the media services, including Tawseel Company for distribution, Al Sharq Media Management, Top Solutions for conference and exhibition services, Graphic Center for advertising and publication, Al Sharq Technology Solutions and Haweyah Company for Branding and Creation House.The meeting of Sheikh Dr. Khalid with Saudi Ambassador focused on bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the importance of strengthening and developing them in all fields, based on the deep historical ties that bind the two brotherly countries. The Ambassador said that he trusts on Dar Al Sharq Group through its print newspapers and digital platforms to enhance the deep strategic relations between the two countries. “The relations between Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar have a speciality that we seek to restore with the support of the press, and that the role of Al Sharq and its sister organisations is important to strengthen the cohesion that binds the two countries,” said the Ambassador.

He said that Al Ula Summit laid out a road map to restore relations to their usual momentum. “Al Sharq is an influential media center, and we look forward to its role in the future. It is important to move forward to restore the relations to the level they were before and to enhance GCC ties.”He lauded the preparations of the State of Qatar to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 next year, stressing that what he witnessed of achievements that usually took nearly a quarter of a century to establish, Qatar accomplished in less than nine years. The Ambassador expressed his great admiration for the World Cup stadiums that were prepared for hosting and the facilities and infrastructure that have been completed. He lauded the security measures to ensure the safety of spectators during their presence in Qatar to watch the matches of FIFA World Cup 2022. “We are looking forward to the Saudi National Team qualifying,” he said, noting that many Saudi fans who follow their team will attend the matches of the World Cup.
